Roughriders fall to Garden County in State Title Game KEARNEY - After a scoreless first quarter in Friday night’s Class D6 State Championship Game, the Southwest Roughriders’ year-long journey of overcoming each and every obstacle along the way stumbled into quicksand. After scoring on a touchdown throw from Houston Billeter to Deric Kelley to pull within 13-6 of top-ranked Garden County, almost everything went wrong for the Roughriders over the final 2:30 of the half.

The results of the 2025 D1-9 All-District Football Team were announced last week. They are: 1st Team Offense: Quarterback: Dante Homer, Dundy County-Stratton Running Back: Mason Giebler, North Platte St.

But Southwest didn’t travel to Kearney for a coronation. Like they have all season, the Roughriders battled.

RED CLOUD - Coming into Friday’s D6 semifinals, the Red Cloud Warriors had scored 61 points per game (not counting a forfeit) in rolling to a 10-0 record. Virtually unstopped all season, the Warriors put their offense on the field first in Friday’s contest against Southwest.
