Maywood/Hayes Center’s girls basketball team cruised to two more wins last week with victories over Sutherland and Brady. On the Sailors’ home court Tuesday, the Wolves held Sutherland to one first half field goal as they raced to a 15-2 lead after the first eight minutes and led 40-2 at halftime.

MCCOOK - The second round of the Cattle Trail Girls Tournament tipped off Friday in McCook with Southwest taking on Dundy County Stratton in a winners bracket game and Wauneta-Palisade and Hitchcock County facing off in the losers bracket.

The Eagles scored 31 firsthalf points and led by 13 at the break, a lead they nursed through much of the second half until the Trojans rallied in the fourth.

SARGENT - With four medalists, the Cambridge wrestling team finished fourth place at the Twin Loup Invite Friday. Myles Stanton led the Trojans with a first-place finish at 190 pounds, earning a 45-second pin in the finals.

WEST POINT - At what will likely be the toughest tournament the Roughriders will compete at before the postseason, the Southwest girls wrestling team finished 13th at the Battle at the Point tournament in West POint Saturday.
