Cambridge edges Med Valley as Raiders battle through Top Ten week

It was a brutal week for the Medicine Valley girls basketball team. The Raiders faced some of Class D2’s best in the point standings, No. 1 Dundy County Stratton, No. 6 Cambridge and No. 8 Mullen. Cambridge and DCS are also possible opponents in Med. Valley’s D2-9 subdistrict.

While it wasn’t always smooth sailing, the Cambridge boys and girls basketball teams each swept the weekend to clinch three-seeds in the upcoming RPAC Basketball tournaments. The girls team rolled past Sutherland Friday, 63-26, then had its hands full with Maxwell until a strong second half produced a 52-41 victory.

RPAC Wrestling Championships set for Saturday in Bertrand

BERTRAND - The Republican Plains Activities Conference will host the boys wrestling championships Saturday at Bertrand High School. Twenty-two state-rated wrestlers will be in contention across 14 weight classes to capture an individual conference championship while hoping to push their team to a conference crown.
Arapahoe’s Briggs Hill will take his unbeaten record into Saturday’s RPAC Wrestling Tournament at Bertrand.

RPAC Hoops Tournaments tip off this weekend

The 2026 Republican Plains Activities Conference basketball championships tip off this weekend with a number of local teams riding a wave of momentum into tournament play. In the East, both the Arapahoe and Cambridge girls squads are on winning tears of late as the Warriors earned the two-seed with a 13-2 record.
Arapahoe’s Sawyer Shafer poured in 31 points and knocked down seven threes in the Warriors’ 71-29 victory over Hi-Line Friday. The two will rematch in Friday’s first round.

Wolves win five-straight to get to 12-2

The Maywood/Hayes Center girls basketball team picked up double-digit wins over Hi-Line and Paxton last week. The Wolves cruised past D1-11 opponent Hi-Line on the Bulls’ home court 80-14 Jan.
