After a two week break the Medicine Valley boys basketball team returned to action last week with games against Wallace and Arapahoe. The Raiders fell behind from the get-go Jan.

The Maywood/Hayes Center girls basketball team picked up double-digit wins over Hi-Line and Paxton last week. The Wolves cruised past D1-11 opponent Hi-Line on the Bulls’ home court 80-14 Jan.

AMHERST - Five area boys wrestling teams hit the mat at the Amherst Invite Saturday. Eleven individuals medaled, including a pair of athletes that took first place.

Keaton Broeker (17-9) each finished fourth place at 150 and 165, respectively. Kade Schaffert earned fourth place at 190 pounds for Southwest, dropping the thirdplace match in overtime.

BARTLEY - A dominant second quarter push visiting Cambridge to the lead the Trojans were able to score enough to hold off Southwest for a 61-56 victory in Bartley Friday night. Southwest had the hot hand early and led by as many as eight, but the Trojans erased the deficit with an 18-point second quarter to build a 27-19 lead at the half.

Stengel said MHC continues to work on taking care of the ball and rebounding better, as well as different defensive options and scoring in their half-court offense. “All of the girls continue to work really hard in practice,” Stengel said, adding, “We have been able to get all of our bench some great minutes in varsity contests, as well as our full JV teams' playing time.” Two Tuesday games remain on the Wolves’ schedule before the RPAC tournament starts Jan.

After a six-point loss to Paxton Dec. 23, the Maywood/ Hayes Center boys basketball team turned the tables on the Tigers Friday night with a 5144 win.

The Medicine Valley girls basketball team won its second game in three contests Jan. 6 with a 47-35 win over Wallace.

Med Valley got back on track Friday with a 63-18 win over Arapahoe. MV scored the first six points of the game on its way to a 16-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Raiders warmed up from long distance in the second quarter as they increased their advantage to 40-11 at halftime. With its offense continuing to hit on all cylinders Med. Valley continued to pull ahead throughout the second half.
