ARAPAHOE - A wild fourth quarter led to heartbreak for the Arapahoe football team as the visiting Alma Cardinals snatched a victory with a pair of touchdowns in the final minutes. Alma scored twice in the final 3:30, finishing a pair of drives sandwiched around a successful onside kick to erase a late 12-point deficit and take a 36-34 lead with about a minute left.

ALMA - The Southwest volleyball team split a triangular at Alma last Thursday, sweeping past the host Cardinals before dropping their second match to Overton in six days. The Roughriders rolled past Alma 25-19, 25-11 as they hit .284 in the match.

EUSTIS - Everything about Thursday’s volleyball tilt between Hi-Line and Wallace was a dead heat, but when RiLee Schutz’s serve landed just inside the baseline, the Bulls celebrated their thirdstraight victory with a 24-26, 25-17, 28-26, 18-25, 16-14 win over the visiting Wildcats.

Cambridge’s football team bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 30-0 win at Maywood/Hayes Center Friday. The Trojans buried MHC deep in its own territory early in the game and took advantage of a blocked punt to set up a four-yard touchdown run by Brady Ahlemeyer.

Saturday tournaments continue to be a thorn in the side of the Maywood-Hayes Center volleyball team. After sweeping South Platte and Hi-Line at their home tournament Tuesday, the Wolves went 0-3 at the Holdrege Saturday.

OVERTON - Maywood-Hayes Center’s football team continues to look for its first win of the season after a 6-49 loss Friday at Overton. MHC trailed 0-20 in the second quarter but was able to take advantage of Overton penalties to set up a threeyard Sawyer Dibbern touchdown run for the Wolves’ only touchdown of the game.

CURTIS - The Medicine Valley football team fell to 1-3 on the season with a Thursday night loss to Class D2 No. 4 Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, 28-61.

To cap a busy week, the Southern Valley volleyball team earned a pair of victories on the road, splitting a road triangular at Axtell Thursday before grabbing one win in three matches at the Hampton Invite Saturday.

BRADY - The Hi-Line volleyball team captured three wins in five matches last week and improved to 7-12 with a pair of victories at the Brady Tournament Saturday. The Bulls dropped a threeset match against the tournament hosts, 25-15, 20-25, 2510, to open, but bounced back with straight-set wins over South Platte and Twin Loup to cap the tournament.

EUSTIS - The Hi-Line football team continued its complicated stretch of its schedule with a home contest against perennial winner, North Platte St. Pat’s Friday, dropping a 53-14 decision to the Irish (4-1).
