Southwest makes statement with dominant victory at Arthur County

ARTHUR - The Southwest football team hit the road for its first real test of the season, a top 10 showdown at Arthur County Friday afternoon. While it took some time for the offense to settle in, the Roughriders’ defense dominated from the start and allowed the team time to find its footing.
Southwest golfers Ella Cure and Abby Sedlacek each posted scores bette than the previous school record with scores of 96 and 97, respectively, at the Lexington Invite Friday.

The Maywood/Hayes Center football team will take a 0-3 record into district competition after a 28-36 loss to Maxwell. The Wolves relied heavily on quarterback runs during the road game.

CURTIS - The Medicine Valley volleyball team captured its first win of the season with a straight-sets victory over visiting Creek Valley Monday. The Raiders hit .265 in a 25-20, 25-8, 25-14 win that also included a season-high 25 ace serves.

LOOMIS - During a busy weekend, the Hi-Line volleyball team captured a pair of wins in Phelps County, downing Bertrand in a triangular Thursday before beating Wallace at the Loomis Tournament on Saturday.
The Southern Valley volleyball team split a Thursday triangular with Southwest and Sutherland, downing the Sailors in straight-sets at home, 25-20 and 25-14. Tori Bose had 12 of the team’s 15 kills and Cali Santifer and Sophia Cunningham each had two ace serves. The Eafles had a tough trip to the Elm Creek Tournament Saturday, falling to Red Cloud and Pleasanton in straight-sets before Sutherland avenged Thursday’s match with a three-set victory.
