Southwest medals six, finishes fourth at North Platte Invite

NORTH PLATTE Coming off the holiday moratorium, the Southwest girls wrestling team returnd to its early season successes with a fourth-place finish at the North Platte Invite Saturday. The Roughriders’ Rylan and Ambie Custard both remained undefated with championship finishes at 115 pounds and 130 pounds, respectively.

The Cambridge boys wrestling team finished third while Arapahoe was sixth and Southwest was 19th at the 20team Fran Jorgensen Invite in Cambridge Saturday. Cambridge’s Carter Hanes remained unbeaten on the year, pinning his way to the title at 157 pounds.

Trojans grab first victory over South Loup

CAMBRIDGE - The Cambridge girls basketball team did not allow a point for the first 12 minutes of the contest and rolled away from South Loup, 5420, to notch their first win of the season Friday. The Trojans led 14-0 after a quarter and 20-0 in the second quarter before the Bobcats finally scored.

Arapahoe bowlers take fourth, seventh at Hastings

The Arapahoe bowling teams traveled to a tournament and the girls finished fourth while the boys took seventh on Saturday. For the girls, Grace Andrews, Molly Elliott, and Lauren Moore all were above a 425 series and Andrews set a new personal-best wiht a 178, leaving only one open frame.

MCCOOK - The Maywood- Hayes Center and Arapahoe girls basketball teams closed out their Cattle Trail Tournaments with victories while Medicine Valley finished eighth. Maywood-Hayes Center stumbled late in its Friday night semifinals, falling to Oberlin after being shut out in the fourth quarter.

MCCOOK - At the Cattle Trail Tournament, Southwest, Maywood-Hayes Center and Arapahoe boys basketball teams finished in consolation rounds over the weekend. After a first round win, Southwest dropped their semifinal contest to Medicine Valley Friday, 63-37.
