EUSTIS - After Maxwell blitzed the Hi-Line boys basketball team at the outset, the Bulls settled in and shut the Wildcats down in the second half to post a 59-54 comeback victory. The Bulls trailed 26-13, but after the explosive first eight minutes for the Wildcats in which they hit five threes, Hi-Line clamped them down.

Stalder (106), Chase Hamilton (120) and Nate Grilli (190) took third in their respective weight classes. Trey Broeker (285) finished fourth for the Eagles. Sully Bantam (138) and Prestin Horwart (150) each earned victories at the tournament for Southern Valley as well.

MCCOOK - The Southwest girls basketball team found itself in a pair of dogfights over the weekend at the Cattle Trail Tournament, but turned to its defense to pull out a pair of victories, capturing the tournament title.

The Medicine Valley boys basketball team put a nice run together through this year’s Cattle Trail Tournament. The Raiders opened with a win over Maywood/Hayes Center and followed it up with a victory over Southwest before falling to undefeated Dundy County Stratton in the championship game.

SOUTHERN VALLEY - With six individual medalists, the Southern Valley boys wrestling team emerged from a tight team race as the runner-up behind champion Chase County at Friday’s home invite. The Eagles scored 112 team points, 11 better than third-place Sutherland and four other teams that all scored at least 88.

SOUTHERN VALLEY Like it had 48 hours earlier, the Hi-Line boys basketball team showed its best in the fourth quarter as it rallied past Southern Valley for its third win in four outings. Tuesday, the Bulls rallied from a 13-point deficit after a quarter for a 59-54 win over Maxwell.
