Frontier County has 4 High School Juniors participating in the 2024 American Legion Cornhuskers Boys State Program. These young men are Kevin Bantam, Kaleb Einspahr, Brody Senff from Medicine Valley High School and Jaxson Anders from Maywood High School.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Women in Mission hosted Holdrege Zone Spring Workshop

St. Paul’s Cambridge Lutheran Women in Mission hosted the Holdrege Zone Spring Workshop at the church on April 21st. Twenty-six members and guests enjoyed the afternoon of fellowship and Bible study by Pastor Dan Wiese. They worked together on Mission Servant activities which included assembling 72 hygiene kits and tying quilts for Orphan Grain Train. They also put together Christmas cards for the troops through Adopt a Chaplain project. Cards included handwritten notes, a short letter from southwest Nebraska, Mustard Seed devotional and pieces of candy. It was an enjoyable day serving the Lord.

LEXINGTON - The Southern Valley and Medicine Valley track teams competed at the Don Bader Invite in Lexington last Friday. For Southern Valley, Adi Hunt won the 200, took runner- up in the 400, and placed fourth in the long jump.

Arapahoe, Cambridge, Hi-Line, So Valley at Jim Mather Invite

ARAPAHOE - Southern Valley, Cambridge, Arapahoe, and Hi-Line were among the eleven teams that competed at the Jim Mather Invite in Arapahoe last Wednesday, April 17th. Both the Cambridge girls and boys placed second as a team, and both the Arapahoe girls and boys placed eighth.
Hi-Line’s Finn Kerznar and Southern Valley’s Tylor Grove approach the finish in the 100 prelims. Kerznar eventually finished third in the event.

Armed Forces Medal of Honor Recipient to be honored

The Medal of Honor is the United States Armed Forces’ highest military decoration and is awarded to recognize American soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen, guardians and coast guardsmen who have distinguished themselves by acts of valor. The medal is normally awarded by the President of the United States and is presented “in the name of the United States Congress.”

CAMBRIDGE - Four area athletes medaled and Southwest finished third at at its home invite Friday in Cambridge. The Roughriders shot a 370 to tie Dundy County-Stratton for third place and Cambridge shot a 373 to finish fifth.
Cambridge’s Micah Gerlach fires a tee shot on the ninth at Cross Creek Friday.
