Lebanon News
It’s one of those days. I had this column almost finished, I thought in the mode to save as I went, and all of a sudden I hit some wrong key and it was gone! So back to square one to try to reconstruct.
By the time you read this, the calendar will say that winter is here. But Mother Nature isn’t convinced. Temps in the 50’s and 60’s in the week of Christmas?!?!
Mother Nature has dealt some nasty blows recently in our country. The destructive and deadly tornados in Tennessee and neighboring states; the winds and tornados in our own state; and the wind and fires in our neighbor to the south, Kansas. There’s been lots of talk about the need for aid for the Tennessee area, but I haven’t heard much about aid for the Kansas fires. At least two lives were lost, homes and outbuildings were burned to the ground, hay was burned, cattle were injured and killed, and thousands upon thousands of acres were scorched. Those people need our help!
On the day of our big wind, all the area firemen were certainly relieved to see the sprinkles start to fall. All it would have taken was a spark and we would have had the same disaster as they did in Kansas.
A good crowd was on hand at the Lebanon Legion Hall for the Community Potluck Supper Sunday evening. About thirty folks enjoyed lots of good food and fellowship. There was discussion about having a soup supper in January. Stay tuned for info.
The Lebanon Presbyterian Church will hold their traditional Family Candlelight Service on Christmas Eve at 5:00. Everyone is invited to attend.
As we come to the day we call Christmas, may we all dwell on thoughts of the Christ Child that came into the world, the most precious gift to all! My wish to you and yours is that you be blessed with a safe, healthy and Merry Christmas.
