If you have a child who will be 5 on or before July 31, 2024, they are eligible to start Kindergarten. Please call the elementary office at (308) 364-2613 to sign up for our orientation. Kindergarten Orientation will be held on March 11th from 5:30-6:30 at the Elementary school. If you are unable to attend, please contact Nanci, 308-364-2613 and we will mail information home to you! The NCTA Crops Judging Team opened their season on a high note by placing first in the 2-year college division. The competition was held on Saturday, February 24, at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, KS.

Chadron State College’s Rural Law Opportunities Program (RLOP) students attended the Nebraska State Bar Association Leadership Academy (NSBA) in Lincoln, Nebraska, Feb. 1-2. The sessions were planned to help the RLOP students understand more about legislation, and the Nebraska legislative process and counsel, according to Kate Pope RLOP Project Coordinator.

Keira Wasenius of Oxford, NE(68967) was named on the Chadron State College Dean’s List for Fall 2023 semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average, be enrolled in 12 credit hours of coursework, be seeking their first bachelor’s degree, and have no incomplete grades during the semester.

We are happy to get another week of nice weather that is getting us another week closer to what the calendar says is Spring. But with these last few nice days has come some of the not so nice stuff – grassfires. Gratefully, none of the big ones have been in our District. Monday night did find the Beaver Valley and Indianola Departments rolling out to a grass fire northwest of Danbury. Early reports are that it was minor.
