Weather permitting, a crack sealing project begins today, Nov. 27, on US-6, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

Mark your calendars to visit with Santa on Sunday, December 10th at 2 pm sharp at the Oxford Public Library. Oxford Fire and Rescue will be bringing Santa to the library from 2 until 3 pm for area kids to meet and take photos.

The Arapahoe City Council approved a $50,000 match commitment for the Rural Workforce Housing Fund application. Bobbi Pettit of 5 Rule to the council that If Arapahoe is approved for the fund the $50,000 will be transferred to the Republican Valley Golden Years Foundation. If approved the state will put in $200,000 to be part of the revolving loan fund. The Republican Valley Golden Years Foundation will be the administrator of the fund that will be for new construction, repair or rehab, and housing development. There are no limitations on income for owner/occupants. The vision of the revolving loan fund is to create a revenue stream for the Republican Valley Golden Years on the interest of the loans. 5 Rule will continue as a consultant working for the city on the fund; overseeing projects, audits and submitting reports to the DED.

Nebraska’s nine-day firearm deer hunting season ended on Sunday, November 19. According to Game and Parks Commission public information officer Julie Geiser of North Platte, the numbers are down throughout southwest Nebraska but how much will not be determined until all the Telecheck online and inperson check-in numbers are combined and tabulated after Thanksgiving.

HOLDREGE - For the first time, the Republican Plains Activities Conference hosted its entire One Act Play Production competition on one stage at one site last Wednesday in Holdrege. The event saw Maxwell claim the title in the East Division while Southern Valley (pictured above) finished runner-up in the East.
