Each week Elwood Public schools send food packs home with students in need, provided to us by Foodbank for the Heartland. These food packs are pre-packaged, processed foods. We would like to add iems to these food packs to increase their nutritional value but we need your help. We invite families to donate any of the following canned items on the night of our PK-12 Christmas program on Tuesday, November 28th at 7:00 p.m.

Ten Cattlemen Selected LINCOLN, NE (November 21, 2023) – Nebraska Cattlemen is proud to announce the Young Cattlemen’s Connections (YCC) Class of 2024. The selection committee chose ten emerging leaders for the prestigious two-year program to help these participants develop a solid foundation of industry knowledge and to strengthen the future of Nebraska’s beef industry.

Frontier County Ambulance service granted Advanced Life Support license

On October 13th, the Frontier County Ambulance Service was granted an Advanced Life Support License through the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Division of Public Health. Since 1973, the Frontier County Ambulance has served the Curtis, Maywood, Stockville, Wellfleet, and Moorefield areas.

John Strand’s basketball team is carrying on the tradition of collecting food for the Arapahoe Food Pantry around Thanksgiving each year. The pantry board is thankful for what the school and community does to help keep their shelves full.

District Governor visits Cambridge Rotary Club

The Cambridge Rotary Club had the pleasure of having their District Governor, Glenn Knuth, join them at their meeting. He spoke with them about trying to get their membership numbers up for their club. District 5630 is faced with needing more members or looking at the possibility of having to be merged with another district. If anyone in the surrounding communities would like to learn more about what Rotary does and what they can do for your community, please by all means reach out to any of their club members. Maywood FFA competes in District Career Development Events in Curtis

Maywoof FFA members had a great day at the district career development events day! Lots of great learning and performances by Maywood FFA students. All agriscience competitors earned ribbons (top half of the contest) and our top 4 scores compiled of the District 11 Agriscience Championship Team! The top 4 will represent our chapter at the state contest in April.

Basic 4-H Horsemanship workshop held

“Going back to the basics” was the theme of the Basic 4-H Horsemanship Workshop held recently on Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) in Curtis, NE. Ten youth and 5 adults learned/reviewed many different horse topics from Frontier County 4-H horse volunteer, parent, & 4-H alumni -Kyle Sheffield.
These young kids are learning how to solve saddle issues during the 4-H Horsemanship Workshop
