Orleans resident and Arapahoe high school graduate Janell Anderson Ehrke has officially filed her candidacy for the District 38 seat in the Nebraska Legislature, becoming the fifth candidate to replace term-limited Senator Dave Murman.

CURTIS - Medicine Valley hosted the RPAC Speech Contest Wednesday and three area speakers won four total events while Maywood finished third as a team. Emma Peterka led Maywood with a first place finish in Humorous Prose.

The Cambridge Academic Decathlon team returned to the State competition for the first time in 5 years. This group battled shorthanded against powerhouse teams from across the state. Colton Gross was the team’s leading point scorer. Other competing included Trev Burke, Jaysek Weiss, Sean Polly, Jensyn Weiss, Hailey Evans, Reid Huxoll and Briar Gunderson.

10 years ago Thirteen students from Jesus Lamb Preschool in Elwood sang “The Star Spangled Banner” before the Elwood Pirate boy’s basketball game with Elm Creek on Friday night. 20 years ago Austin Davis and William Rahjes were chosen to attend 2006 Kearney Middle School Honor Band on Saturday, February 11.

10 years ago The Southwest FFA chapter competed in District XI Career Development Events on February 10 in Curtis. Southwest captured the District title in Agricultural Mechanics.
