2021 and 2022 Gosper County Extension Board Members recently attended a meeting in Bertrand Nebraska. Pictured are Gosper Co. The Extension Board provides guidance to Extension staff in establishing and accomplishing Extension education program goals and objectives. Gosper Extension staff includes Todd Whitney, Unit Leader; Molly Brandt, 4-H Educator; Emily Shultz, 4-H Assistant and Kathy Beck, Office Manager.

GOSPER COUNTY SENIOR CENTER

The Gosper County Senior Center is in full swing and has coffee drinkers in at 8:30, pool-players in the midmorning, exercise machines that are in motion, a puzzle on the table, domino game to get started after lunch and of course great noon dinners for you to enjoy with friendly neighbors. The staff will continue to make your visit here, either while participating in the activities or eating our noon meal, as positive and enjoyable as can be. Thanks for your support.

Surveys Hitting Hunters’ Inboxes Soon

Hunters of upland and small game, waterfowl, fall turkey and deer will receive emailed invitations to participate in surveys about their harvest and hunting experiences. These surveys, which the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission uses to estimate harvest, hunter participation and satisfaction — and to inform management decisions — will be emailed over several weeks, beginning Feb. 14. Surveys generally are available to participants for two weeks starting from the initial invitation.

Council approves car & truck sales to C-1 Zoning

The Cambridge City Council met in regular session on Monday, February 21, 2022. Council Member Derek Rabrun was absent from the meeting. A Public Hearing was held to consider adding car and truck sales to “C-1” as a conditional use. The Public Hearing closed without comment. Discussion was then held as to the difference between “C-1” and “C-2” commercial zoning. Members also discussed the conditional use permits for “C- 1” zoning. City Clerk/Treasurer Kandra Kinne made copies of the Zoning Map so Council Members could see what areas are zoned “C-1” and “C-2.” A motion was made and seconded to approve adding car and truck sales to “C-1” as a conditional use. The motion passed. Council then approved Consent Agenda Items with no discussion.

Annual ESU Middle School Quiz Bowl

ESU #11 sponsored the Annual Middle School Quiz Bowl at the Nebraska Prairie Museum in Holdrege on February 16th. Teams attending were Alma, Arapahoe, Axtell, Bertrand, Cambridge, Elwood, Eustis-Farnam, Franklin, Holdrege, Loomis, Minden, Southern Valley, and Wilcox-Hildreth.
The Southern Valley students placed 1st at the Middle School Quiz Bowl held February 16th.
