We are open to in-house meals and as long as our Gosper County numbers stay down we can remain open. We are following the guidelines that WCNAAA has suggested for our Center. Masks are optional. We will continue to do Home Delivery meals if you are homebound; Pick-up meals on need base only. Please call and visit with Lana at 785-2500 if you have questions, we will work it out. Elwood Fair Parade is July 31st

The Gosper County Bi-Annual Fair Parade will be held on July 31, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. The theme for the parade this year is “Superheroes – Show us your favorite heroes, real life or fictional.” Registration will begin at 9:30 that morning on the corner by Remmenga Drilling. No deadline for registration has been set, but pre-registration is appreciated. You can pre-register by mailing your information to Michelle Wilken, P.O. Box 84, Elwood, NE 68937; calling Michelle at 785-844-3843; or by e-mailing your registration information to mwilken2018@ gmail.com. Please be sure to include “Fair Parade” on the subject line if you register by e-mail. Registration forms will be available at various businesses around Elwood.

No new cases of COVID-19 reported by Two Rivers Public Health Department

KEARNEY –No new cases of COVID-19 were reported by Two Rivers Public Health Department in the seven-county region it serves for the week of June 11-17. Please check the Two Rivers website for more detailed information for our citizens on current COVID-19. As a result of the continued decline in positive test results, reporting on positive cases will only be done once a week, with a press release and dashboard update occurring on Fridays.

Game and Parks Staggering Dates for Big Game Permits

LINCOLN, Neb. – In an effort to provide better customer service, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is staggering the beginning sale dates for big game permits. Staggering the sale dates will help the electronic permitting system run more efficiently during high-use periods. In addition, Game and Parks has added software to the system that puts online permit buyers in a purchasing queue for processing during high-use periods to maintain traffic load.

She has seen it all: World War II, the Great Depression, Dust Bowl, Pearl Harbor, 9/11… and the list goes on. One hundred years of history all wrapped into a glorious lady, Goldene Burton, who is blessed with celebrating her century birthday on July 5, also her grandfather’s birthday. She attributes this longevity to good food, exercise and most importantly her faith.
