Barbara June (Kolves) Beck, 93 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2025, after a short courageous battle with cancer, at Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege.

She was born on May 2, 1932, in rural Furnas County, Nebraska, near Beaver City, the oldest of four children born to Lawrence and Hazel (Wright) Kolves. Barbara was raised in rural Furnas County and later moved to Stamford, she attended #64 Lone Star School and graduated from Stamford High School with the Class of 1949 and pursued higher education at Kearney State College.

On February 21, 1960, Barbara was united in marriage to Harold W.

Beck at the Presbyterian Church in Stamford.

They were blessed with three sons: Kent, Keith, and Kurt, and made their home in Holdrege.

Barbara was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon and actively participated in Bible studies. Her faith was a guiding light in her life.

She found joy in simple pleasures—sitting on her deck enjoying the view, playing cards, or sharing coffee or tea with friends. She was an avid sports fan, cheering for Nebraska and Iowa State football, and even enjoyed watching a good game of cornhole.

A talented seamstress, Barbara also worked at Peterson Jones Insurance later in life once her children were grown.

She was preceded in death by two siblings, Lawrence Lee in infancy and Katherine Mae at the age of three; two sons, Keith Beck in infancy and Kent Beck in 1987; her beloved husband Harold Beck in 2010; her parents, Hazel Tull and her husbands, Lawrence Kolves and Leo Tull; and brothers-in-law Ronald Beck and Paul Stevens.

Barbara is lovingly remembered by her son, Kurt Beck and his wife Wendi of Lincoln, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Austen Beck and his wife Emily of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Hanna Hoodjer and her husband Derek of Ankeny, Iowa, and Kylie McClure and her husband Maxwell of Omaha, Nebraska; and four greatgrandchildren: Addison, Jackson, Walker, and Scottie, with one more on the way. She is also survived by her loving sister, Sharon Stevens of Holdrege.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
