A memorial graveside service for Dennis Wolzen was held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Hendley Cemetery in Hendley, Nebraska with Pastor Jean Clayton officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Oxford American Legion in conjunction with the United States Air Force Honors Team.

Dennis Martin “Denny” Wolzen, 74 years of age, of Oxford, died on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at CHI Health – St. Francis in Grand Island, Nebraska. Dennis was born on October 9, 1948, in Beaver City, Nebraska, the fifth of six children, born to Edwin “Swede” and Glenva (Martin) Wolzen. He was raised in Beaver City and received his education from Beaver City Public School. He graduated from Beaver City High School with the class of 1966.

In 1973, Dennis was inducted into the United States Air Force and served as a Criminal Investigator. Dennis was united in marriage to Roxane Dusenberry on August 18, 1973. The couple made their home in Europe. He retired from the Air Force with over 20 years of service and they began to make their home in Nebraska.

Later, Dennis worked as the City Administrator and Mayor for the Village of Oxford. He was a member of the Oxford American Legion. He enjoyed watching Formula One Racing, and Husker Football; playing darts, and caring for his menagerie of dogs and cats.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Ralph Hinkle; two brothers: Gordon Neal Wolzen, and Richard L. Wolzen; two brothers-in-law, Dean Beck and Clarence “Bud” Beck; and sisterin- law, Kristine Wolzen.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Roxane Wolzen; daughter, Becky Ulmer and her husband, Kelly of Marysville, Kansas; brother: Kent Wolzen of Papillion, Nebraska; sisters: Carolyn Beck of St. Paul, Nebraska; and Joyce Beck of Alliance, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Nancy Wolzen of Belleville, Kansas; Kathy Wolzen of Wells, Nevada; his beloved German Shepherd, Riley; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

There was no visitation, viewing, or memorial book signing, the evening prior to the service. The family is honoring Dennis’ wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Dennis’ honor and kindly suggested to the family.
