Glenn D. DeVries, age 89, of Trumbull, NE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Eventide Prairie Commons, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Evangelical Free Church in Hastings, NE, with Pastor Matt Sass officiating. Burial to be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Trumbull.

Visitation was from 3-7 p.m. with the family present 5-7 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at Butler Volland Funeral Home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials can be sent to “Loved by God Ministries” PO Box 914 McCook, NE.

69001. This ministry in Burkina Faso, West Africa, started by Glenn’s great niece and her husband, Tenielle & Barto Yelkouni, involves the building and operating of schools, teaching God’s Word, digging wells and agricultural practices.

Glenn was born Nov. 17, 1936, to Tobias and Elsie (Hein) DeVries, the 8th of 12 children.

He graduated from Arapahoe Public School in 1953, at the age of 16. On June 30, 1957, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Moore.

To this union, 5 children were born. He worked for Trumbull Coop as a tank wagon salesman.

Later, they bought a farm and milked cows, raised stock cows, and hogs. Glenn also worked driving trucks and doing odd jobs for people. He quit farming in 1998 and focused more on carpentry. He worked in and on many homes around the area, repairing and remodeling. Several grandchildren apprenticed under him. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Duane Glenn, grandson Ryan Daniel Soucie, brothers, Carl, Wayne, Jack, Charles, sisters Mary Bockerman, Elsie Mae Frogge, Phyliss Alexander, and Dorothy Wilson.

Survivors include: Children - Teresa (Jeffrey) Ball, of Stromsburg; Douglas (Theresa) DeVries, of Trumbull; Tamera (Dan) Soucie, of Hastings; Donald (Lisa) DeVries, of Omaha. 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; Brothers – Bud DeVries, Leonard (Wyoma) DeVries, and Harold (Kathy) DeVries, and many other relatives and friends.
