Larry D. Tams
A Memorial Service for Larry D. Tams was held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, Nebraska, with Pastor Daren Popple officiating. A private inurnment was held prior to the service at the Alma Cemetery.
Larry Dean Tams, 80 years of age, of Alma, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society Colonial Villa in Alma. Larry was born on April 24, 1945, in Oxford, Nebraska, to Glen L. and Wilma I. (Schmalken) Tams. He received his primary education from Stamford Public Schools and graduated from Stamford High School with the class of 1963. He pursued higher education from Milford Technical School, graduating in 1965.
On July 20, 1974, Larry was united in marriage to Kathleen Linner at the Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, where they lived and raised five children: George Scott, twins: Marte, and Monte Scott, Yvonne (Scott) Tolle, and Lewis Tams.
Larry worked at Feese Chevrolet in Alma for 11 years, and then worked for Tripe Motor Company in Alma for over 40 years. Larry enjoyed classic cars, golfing and fishing.
He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Alma and car clubs. He was proud to drive his classic, 1971 Chevelle convertible in many parades.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Marte Scott in 2002; his wife, Kathleen in 2023; two sisters-in-law: Kaye Linner; and Kim Linner; and three brothers- in-law: Gary Carter; Lynn Rakes; and Roger Linner.
Larry is survived by four children: George Scott and his wife, Dee-Ann of Oxford, Nebraska; Monte Scott and his husband, Michael Gentile of Longmeadow, Massachusetts; Yvonne Tolle and her husband, Clinton of Alma; and Lewis Tams and his wife, Sara of Rossville, Kansas; six grandchildren: Jamie Scott of Omaha, Nebraska; Aaron Scott and his wife, Amanda of Hastings, Nebraska; Annabelle Tolle of Paso Robles, California; Natalie Tolle of Portland, Oregon; Emma Tams and Conner Tams of Rossville; one sister, Connie Carter of Palmyra, Nebraska; two close cousins: Rolena Novak and husband, Lou of Oxford; and Vicki Gammage of Stamford; his in-laws: Ron Linner and his wife, Mary of Bird City, Kansas; Shirley Volgamore and her husband, Ervin of Beaver City; Margie Denio and her husband, Earl of Stratton, Nebraska; Denise Rakes of Cambridge, Nebraska; Doug Linner and his wife, Missy of Hendley; Bev Hilker and her husband, Butch of Arapahoe, Nebraska; Jim Linner and his wife, Heidi of Norton, Kansas; Alvin Linner of Beaver City; Junior Linner and his wife, Don of Beaver City; and Randy Linner and his wife, Cindy of Norton, Kansas; and; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, along with other relatives, and friends.
There will not be a visitation or viewing. The family is honoring Larry’s wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Larry’s honor and kindly suggested to Peace Lutheran Church of Alma.
