Marilyn Ruth (Trail) Newcomb, 86, passed away December 7, 2025 at Oak View in Autumn Lake, Silver Springs, MD. She was born January 8, 1939 to Rollin A. and Elynnor M. (Hoyt) Trail in Greeley, Weld County, CO. In early childhood, the family homesteaded a farm in southwest McCook NE.

She attended District 8 in rural McCook and graduated from McCook High School in 1957. She attended McCook Community College, and later the Lincoln School of Commerce.

On June 18, 1960 she married William E.

Greer. To this marriage, two sons were born: Rollin William and Robert Edward.

On June 7, 1965 Robert passed away in Denver, CO from spinal meningitis and was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook, NE next to her parents’ plots. On January 15, 1967 she married Roger L.

Newcomb in McCook, NE. To this marriage, Roger brought a daughter, Tamra Rae from his first marriage. Marilyn brought Rollie, with Roger adopting him shortly after. Adding to the blended family, came Amy Lee followed by Beth Ann.

Roger and Marilyn made their home in Kearney, NE and spent many years working, serving, and living in the community. Marilyn’s career as a bookkeeper kept her busy in the Kearney area until her retirement. She enjoyed sewing and crafts in her spare time. In her later years, she especially enjoyed travelling, exploring many historical sites throughout this country.

Left to remember her are son, Rollin W. Newcomb of Boulder, CO; daughters Tamra Ring of Bullhead City AZ; Amy Eberle and husband Charles of Minden, NE; and Beth Thornburg and husband Jim of Norfolk, NE. Marilyn leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren: Alex Madison and wife Natasha with their 4 children of Beatrice, NE; Dakota Madison and his fiancé Amanda Luna with 1 child of Minden NE, Makenzi Erickson and her husband Brandon with their 2 children of Lincoln, NE; Katala Hanks and husband Jeff with their 2 children of Omaha, NE; Sam Fiest and his wife Casey of Columbus NE with their 3 children. Also left to cherish her memory are one sister, Judith Johnson and husband Daniel of Lacombe LA, 2 brothers: Charles Trail and wife Dian of McCook, NE and John Trail of Arapahoe, NE.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Roger, brother James, and son Robert.

Memorials are suggested to be sent to Amy Eberle in Minden, NE. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
