Wilma Ina Haussermann, age 94, of Arapahoe, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2021, after being in Phelps Memorial Hospital, Holdrege, Nebraska from congestive heart failure and her body just wore out. Wilma was born near Alma, Nebraska on a farm on June 8, 1927, as the third of thirteen children of Friend Valentine (Mike) and Augusta Louise Rebman Hadley.

After moving numerous times between Kansas and Nebraska, she graduated from Alma High School with the class of 1944. She was baptized at home, near Axtell, Nebraska, on January 13,1946 and confirmed on June 9, 1946. She married Eldin Haussermann, on November 11, 1947, at the Bethany Lutheran Church parsonage near Axtell. To this union, three children were born: Dale, Nancy and Ruth. Wilma worked along-side Eldin on the farm driving tractors and working cattle. Her hobbies included her love for music. She played her guitar, in several groups during her life. Wilma was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe since the early 1950’s. She belonged to LWML where she also served as an officer, taught Sunday school, served on the board starting Mission Mall, and was a member of Mid Valley extension club, Arapahoe Senior Center Advisory Board, Chicken Foot gang, Comedy Act with Marna Hermes, Swingin’ Grannies, Hadley Kansas Ramblers, Valley Plow Girls, Whipples Cripples, and the Princess. Her sense of humor was contagious.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eldin, brothers-Lewis Hadley and wife Carol, Dean Hadley, Howard Hadley and wife Carol, Dallas Hadley; sisters-Betty Schluntz and husband Dexter, Mildred Fischer (husband Forrest), Joyce (husbands Francis Crouse and Ed Albers), and Sharon (husbands Gayle Newbury and Bob Hayter).

Left to mourn her are her son Dale Haussermann, daughters Nancy Tarkington, husband Kurt, and Ruth Christensen, husband Melvin. Her grand-children-Travis Tarkington (Valerie), Lindsey Williams (Jesse), Tyler Tarkington; Brent Christensen, Kendall Christensen (Joni), Dallas Christensen (Kylie), Elizabeth Martin (Andrew), Sebastian Edwards (Emma). Great-grandchildren are Travis’s family Garrett Hamilton (Keithen), Sean Skiles, Haley Skiles, Ashton Kirkendall; Lindsey’s family-Hadley, Jameson; Brent’s family-Parker, Breckyn, Kyler; Kendall’s family-Landon, Bryer; Dallas’s family-Kinley, Paisley; Elizabeth’s family-Ethan, Isabella; Sebastian’s family-Henry, Stella. Great-grandchildren Xavier, Ezekiel, Malachi, Sebastian Hamilton. Also left to mourn are brothers Leon (Susian) and John (Linda); sisters Jean Patterson and Joan (Lee) Kruschke; sisters-in-law Ellen Hadley and Carol Hadley; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and “adopted” family. Viewing and visitation was Monday, August 2, 2021, from 5 PM till 7 PM at Wenburg Funeral Chapel, 652 Main St., Arapahoe, Nebraska with family present from 6 PM till 7 PM. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. James Moshier, officiating. Burial was at the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Memorials will be designated at a later date or can be written to Trinity Lutheran Church in memory of Wilma.
