Eagles take down Swedes, Overton

The Southern Valley boys basketball team continued streak adding two wins this week against Gothenburg and Overton. The Eagles are now 4-1.

Thursday, the Eagles got the tip but couldn’t convert on the first possession allowing the Swedes to get the early lead but it didn’t last long. Southern Valley’s balanced scoring took them to a 15-12 lead at the end of the first. Quarters two and three were defensive battles as SV scored a combined 13 and Gothenburg scored 8. The Swedes struggled with fouls in the fourth quarter and the Eagles took advantage scoring 13 and holding the Swedes to 8 for a 41-28 win.

Clayton Berry led the senior starting trio in their balanced offense with 15. Carter Bose had a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Colten Burgeson hit two 3-pointers and a free throw to add 7. Kamden Bose, Isaak McPhillamy and Mitchel Wilson added 5, 3, and 2 points respectively.

Saturday the Ea,gles travelled to Overton to pick up the win. Southern Valley jumped to an early lead holding the Overton boys to just 2points in the first quarter while scoring 18. Going into half-time, SV led 29-9. Overton rallied in the third quarter to match SV’s 10 points, but it wasn’t enough as Southern Valley easily won 48-23.

Berry again led the scoring for SV With 22 points. Burguson and C Bose added 9, K Bose added 5, and McPhillamy added 3. C Bose led the defense with 4 blocks, 4 deflections, and ii total rebounds.
