The Oxford 8U Softball team took home 4th place in this year’s league tournament, proudly walking away with a well-earned medal. .

The Cambridge Lions Club is proud to present a check for $2,000 to the Cambridge Park Board Foundation. The funds were raised during the Lions Club Hamburger Feed held during Medicine Creek Days and we appreciate the community support for our fundraiser. The money is being donated to the Park Board Foundation to help with the all inclusive playground equipment project.

Jerry Liess of the Indianola Chiefs was inducted into the NEMFCA Eight-Man Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, June 15. NEMFCA, or the Nebraska Eight-Man Football Coaches Association, held the event at Hastings College.

Coming into the 2023 2024 school year, there were certainly a number of high school athletes, locally, that had high expectations for themselves and their teams, but I don’t know that even the most extreme optimist could have envisioned the great successes enjoyed by those wearing our school colors this past year.

NORTH PLATTE - Southern Valley’s Kamden Bose closed out his high school golf career amongst the best in the State and all five local qualifiers for the Class D State Golf Tournament finished in the top half of the field last week.

CAMBRIDGE - Fourteen local athletes were selected to compete in the annual CSO All-Star basketball game hosted in Cambridge. Ann Bose of Southern Valley, Jalen Kent of Cambridge, Bryn Lampe of Southwest, Berkley Warner of Arapahoe, and Brylyn Springer of Cambridge competed for the east girls. For the west girls, Stella Heapy and Sienna Houghtelling represented Medicine Valley. Southern Valley’s Kamden Bose, Southwest’s Hunter Blume, and Cambridge’s Carson Trompke, Ben Hoberty, and Brohdey Wood played for the east boys. For the west boys, Hadyn Farr and Jeremiah Ingison were selected to compete.

State track took several local athletes to Omaha.

OMAHA - In one of the more memorable State Track and Field meets in some time, local athletes shined in Omaha this past weekend, accumulating 21 medals and even more hardware. At a meet where if you blinked, you might miss another record falling, the Southern Valley girls - with all of four athletes - captured another trophy on the school year, taking State Runner-Up.
