The Medicine Valley football team was able to keep the pace with D6 No. 8 Garden County for two quarters, but a tough second half doomed the Raiders in a 12-49 road loss to the Eagles.
ELWOOD - The Hi-Line volleyball team took on the Southwest Roughriders at home last Tuesday, September 10. The Roughriders swept the Lady Bulls three sets to none, winning by over ten points each set.
TRENTON - The Arapahoe volleyball battled through six matches in five days and gave most of their opponents all they could handle, but ended up with nothing to show for it. In Tuesday’s home triagular, the Warriors pushed Maywood-Hayes Center and Loomis both to three sets, but dropped both matches - 25-23, 23-25, 25-20 to MHC and 2516, 20-25, 25-23 to Loomis.
CAMBRIDGE - In a rematch of last season’s Class D2 State Championship game, Overton again took down the Trojans. While the first set was a fight, the Eagles rolled from there to take a 25-21, 25-11, 25-11 victory over Cambridge, dropping the Trojans to 6-5 this season.
BARTLEY - The Southwest football team gave one of the top teams in six- man about all it could handle Friday night, proving that the Roughriders might be amongst that top group. But some missed opportunities came back to haunt the Roughriders, who fell 4028 to drop their first contest of the season.
HARVARD - Two weeks into their season and the Southwest football team has yet to be grounded. The Roughriders took their vaunted air show to Harvard Friday and again shredded the opposition through the skies as Houston Billeter connected with Deric Kelley and Trenton Williams for five first-half touchdown passes and the Roughriders rolled to a 56-14 triumph to move to 2-0.
ARAPAHOE - For the second-consecutive week to start the 2024 season, the Arapahoe football team took the drama out of the contest at the outset. The Warriors scored on their first two plays from scrimmage and might've scored on their third if not for a dropped pass.
CAMBRIDGE - Arapahoe, Southern Valley, Medicine Valley, Hi-Line, Maywood-Hayes Center, Southwest, and Cambridge competed at the 2024 Cambridge Cross Country Invite last Friday. In the top fifteen from these local schools were Medicine Valley's Kael Garrett, Southern Valley's Isaac Hamilton and Prestin Horwart, and Cambridge's Gavin Gunderson.
IMPERIAL - While all three of Southern Valley/ Alma’s softball contests were lopsided last week, the Saints managed two wins and improved to 10-5 on the year. Tuesday, the Saints struggled on defense with free baserunners and dropped an 11-0 home decision to Fillmore Central.
SOUTHERN VALLEY The Southern Valley football team had moments where it shined, but an avalanche of points against in the second quarter doomed the Eagles in a 44-10 defeat to Arcadia/ Loup City on Friday night.
