SOUTHWEST - The now 7-5 Southwest Roughriders girls basketball team defeated the now 7-5 Cambridge Trojans last Friday. The Roughriders beat the Trojans 35-22.
The return from the holiday break wasn’t kind to the Medicine Valley girls basketball team as the Raiders lost a close 46-42 game at Arapahoe Friday. MV played a strong first quarter against the 6-6 Warriors.
Although the Medicine Valley boys basketball team stayed within striking distance of Arapahoe, the Warriors did enough to pull away late for a 41-32 victory Friday night. Both teams were slow to get going offensively.
ARAPAHOE - The Lady Warriors played tough opponents at their Holiday Tournament last week. They lost 27-31 to Wallace and turned around to beat Blue Hill 50-46 the next day.
PAXTON - After a huge victory last Friday, Cambridge traveled to Paxton the next day to take on the Tigers. Despite an impressive attempt at a last-minute comeback, the Trojans fell 55-60.
PAXTON - Riding high from a victory against undefeated Maywood-Hayes Center, Cambridge traveled to Paxton and fell short of a victory. The Lady Trojans lost 26-36, making their record 7-3.
PLEASANTON - The Arapahoe wrestling team returned to action from its holiday break with an eighth place finish at the Pleasanton Invite Saturday. Against a tough and competitive tournament field, the Warriors had two medalists, led by 132-pound Briggs Hill, who finished runner-up and led the team with 22 points toward the team total of 88.
