A strong third quarter wasn’t enough to rally past a large halftime deficit at Maxwell for the Hi-Line girls basketball team last week. The Bulls fell into a 39-10 halftime hole before dropping a 57-25 decision to the Wildcats.
MCCOOK - One week after a regular season contest saw Maywood-Hayes Center hold off Southwest in a high-scoring girls basketball showdown, the Wolves and Roughriders tipped off a different brand of basketball in the Cattle Tail Championship game.
The Southern Valley girls bowling team took the tournament title and the boys finished runner-up at the McCool Junction Invite Saturday. Alyson Adams claimed the individual title for the Eagles as well and Alex Meyers was runner-up in the girls’ competition.
LINCOLN - The Nebraska School Activities Association is progressing in its biennial high school football scheduling process and released classifications for the next scheduling period. These classifications are effective for all football teams for both the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
ARAPAHOE - In a dual with Southern Valley Friday, the Arapahoe boys and girls bowling teams picked up victories over the Eagles, taking the contests 19-2 and 18-3. Matt DeOss bowled a 147 and Brandon Rascon had a 146 for the Warriors.
MCCOOK - After a 4-0 start to the season pushed the Maywood-Hayes Center boys basketball team into the finals of the Cattle Trail Tournament Saturday, the Wolves tried to use the same formula that had gotten them their first four wins.
SOUTHERN VALLEY - Southern Valley’s Braxton Hammond continued his early season dominance with a tournament title and 10 total wrestlers from the area earned medals at the Southern Valley Invite Friday.
The Medicine Valley girls basketball team will look to pick up its first win of the season this week at the Cattle Trail Tournament. The Raiders’ season got off to a rough start with a 2851 loss at Southwest Thursday night.
HAYES CENTER - The Maywood-Hayes Center girls and boys basketball teams each took victories over Southwest Saturday afternoon as each improved to 2-0 on the season after opening wins over Wallace on Friday.
