Coaches select D2-8 All-District honorees

Six Maywood-Hayes Center football players received all-district recognition from the coaches of the District D2-8 teams while two Medicine Valley Raiders were also honored. Jeremiah Ingison, Grady Erickson - both seniors - and junior Kody Schwenk received first-team all district recognition as Ingison was chosen as a tigh tend, Erickson as a kick returner and Schwenk both as a defensive back and a kicker for the Wolves.

RPAC announces All-Conference Volleyball Teams

The Republican Plains Activities Conference announced its all-conference volleyball teams Sunday. Twenty-one area athletes were honored Thirteen of the fourteen spots on the East’s First and Second teams were awarded to athletes from the Valley Voice coverage area as Cambridge put three members on the first team in seniors Jalen Kent and Bailee Ahlemeyer as well as junior Erin Johnson.

Seven Southwest football players received recognition when the District D6-4 coaches announced their All-District football selections. Senior Nate Rippe was selected First Team Offense at End and teammates Hunter Blume, a senior, and Trenton Williams, a junior, were each selected to the First Team defense as a lineman and a back, respectively.

LINCOLN - Friday morning, the top-seeded Cambridge volleyball team did what top seeds are supposed to do. The Trojans jumped all over fifth-seeded Wynot, which had rolled past fourthseeded Wallace in Thursday’s first round, and dominated the first two sets before finishing off a 25-17, 25-20, 1525, 25-21 victory that pushed Cambridge into Saturday’s championship game.

The future of Medicine Valley Football may be at the six-man level

The school district held an informational meeting on Thursday night in the high school commons area to discuss classification for the upcoming cycle, presenting enrollment projections and to have an open discussion with parents and members of the community for their input and involvement in the process. About twenty parents, students, and coaches attended the meeting.

Southwest falls in first round at State

LINCOLN - The seconded- seeded Southwest volleyball team simply picked a bad day to have a rough day. Opening the Class D1 State Tournament against seventh-seeded Elgin/Pope John, Southwest was plagued by uncharacteristic errors and lapses, dropping the first two sets before a valiant rally came up short in a 25-23, 2624, 23-25, 19-25, 15-10 defeat to the Wolfpack.
Southwest’s Payton Truksa pounded 21 kills to lead the ‘Riders at the State Tournament.

LINCOLN - After a thrilling couple of days at the Class D2 State Volleyball Tournament, the Cambridge volleyball team extended its season to the final day, reaching its end in the State Finals against second-seeded Overton. The Trojans, which had split two matches with the Eagles this season, battled and did about as much as they could, but fell in the finals 25-21, 25-21, 29-27 to complete their season at 28-5 and officially State Runner-up.
