Clover Kids in both Phelps and Gosper Counties recently enjoyed a day full of hands-on learning and creativity! Youth participated in a variety of engaging activities, including vibrant painting projects, colorful fish prints, and building their own ecosystems. One of the highlights was crafting a bug sucker—a fun tool to explore the tiny critters in nature.

Earlier this year, the Gosper County Hot Shot 4-H Club held its annual BB Gun Shooting Contest, showcasing the skills of local youth involved in 4-H Shooting Sports. The event was led by certified 4-H Shooting Sports leader Steve Dirgo and several volunteers.

CURTIS – During the monthly meeting on June 9, the Medicine Valley School Board tabled a decision regarding group life insurance, pending receiving more bids from insurance companies. The board acted on several items that will go into effect for the 2025-2026 school year: Supt.

Tri Valley Medical Foundation recently awarded scholarships totaling $13,700 to 20 area students who are pursuing careers in nursing and other medical fields. Tri Valley Medical Foundation applicants had wonderful career goals, outstanding scholastic records, and favorable recommendations from medical professionals and instructors. The Foundation is fortunate to be able to support these students in our service area to assist them in achieving their future career goals.

SIOUX FALLS, SD (06/11/2025)-- Connor Tidyman of Maywood, NE, has been awarded a full-ride Build Dakota Scholarship at Southeast Technical College. The competitive award will cover Tidyman’s tuition, fees, books, uniforms, tools and supplies as they complete the Welding program at STC. Now in its 11th year, the scholarship program has set recipient records for four consecutive years. All of this year’s scholars have an industry sponsor that finanically supports the scholarship.

The Gosper County Fair is July 22-26, with 4-H events beginning July 14th. The Rodeo is Thursday and Friday, July 24 & 25.
