On February 9 and 10, Arapahoe and Southern Valley girls and boys head to the state bowling tournament in Lincoln at Sun Valley Lanes. A new NSAA sport this year, competition begins at 2 pm for the boys on Tuesday and 9 am for girls on Wednesday.

Hi-Line finishes third at Fort Kearny Wrestling

WILCOX - With eight different medalists, including an individual champion, the Hi-Line wrestling team scored 101 points and took third place at the Fort Kearny Conference Wrestling Tournament Tuesday in Wilcox. Amherst regained the team title and Ansley/Litchfield was the runner-up in front of the Bulls.

CAMBRIDGE - After holding down a high-powered Dundy County-Stratton offense for three quarters, the Southern Valley boys basketball team couldn’t keep the Tigers under wraps forever in Saturday night’s RPAC Boys championship game in Cambridge. The Tigers’ offense started rolling in the fourth, erasing a six-point Eagles lead and building an eight-point edge with just over two minutes to play.

Area wrestling teams off to Subdistricts this weekend

Ina new postseason format from the NSAA, high school wrestling teams will now compete in Subdistricts a week ahead of the district tournament. The top four in each weight class from each subdistrict will advance to next weekend’s District Tournament, where the top four will again advance on to State.

Cambridge girls down Wauneta-Palisade, finish third After a difficult loss to Alma in the tournament semifinals, the Cambridge girls used a 21-point fourth quarter to pull away from Wauneta-Palisade and win Saturday’s third-place game, 52-42. Cambridge led early, but the Broncos closed the gap to two at the half, then finally took the lead early in the fourth quarter.

Hi-Line girls drop FKC Tournament opener

WILCOX - The Hi-Line girls basketball team dropped its tournament opener Saturday, 51-40, to WilcoxHildreth. The Falcons controlled the first half with 31 points and built a 31-18 lead at the break.
