Indinaola City Council Deputy Clerk is retiring after years of service to the City of Indianola

Body
The Indianola City Council began their May 6th meeting by approving the minutes of the April 15th meeting, as written. After approving and paying claims, council member Marks moved to approve a building permit for Richard and LaRae Garretson at 119 N 6th Street. Fries seconded the motion, and the permit was approved. Ordinance 453 regarding franchising fees for companies was instated twenty-five years ago and is set to expire on October 18th. In its place, the council debated adding Ordinances 524 and 525. After a lengthy discussion about what actions should be taken, it was ultimately decided to table both ordinances until the original ordinance can be further analyzed. The council also approved raising the McCook Fire Department intercept fee to $200 and set the Indianola City Pool rates for the summer. The rates will remain the same as last year: $35 for students, $40 for adults, $80 for families, $35 for seniors, and $75 for pool parties. The Pool Manager position will also be offered to Micheal Brodd for the summer. After years of assistant managing, the council feels like he is well-qualified to fulfill the manager position. The search for a street sweeper also continues. It is widely agreed the streets are in rough condition and need to be cleaned. After extensive debate concerning costs of leasing, renting, and purchasing various street sweepers, the council agreed to move forward on attaining one. Further action will be taken at a later meeting. Deputy Clerk Deanna Brown is retiring after years of service to the City of Indianola. Council member Blume moved to accept her retirement and remove her from all city accounts. City personnel reported that the summer activities of watering, spraying, and mowing are here to stay. The cemetery gates will also hopefully be repaired in the coming weeks.
