Positive Rabies Case reported in Southwest Nebraska

A positive case of rabies in an animal has been reported to Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD). This positive rabies test was from a dog in Perkins County. Rabies is a severe, rapidly progressing neurological disease. It spreads through saliva (spit), most commonly through contact with an infected wild animal.

Wow can’t believe it’s been 20 years that we have been pulling off this camping get together. We started in 2006 camping up on Trail 12. As our camping gear got a little more sophisticated we moved to Trail 4 for the convenience of electricity and a bath house.

Cambridge City Council approve Public Safety Building agreement

Cambridge City Council met on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. Council member Troy Westadt was absent from the meeting. Guests at the meeting included Brad Williams and Tom Shoemaker. After the Pledge of Allegiance and the Open Meeting Announcement, the council approved the consent agenda. The consent agenda included the minutes of the previous city council meetings, the claims, and the Planning Commission minutes.

At this week’s Cambridge Rotary meeting they had the great opportunity to meet, Miss Shayda Schutte, 2025 Red Willow Rodeo Princess. Shayda visited with them about what it takes to try and become a Rodeo Princess in Nebraska. Her love for the sport of rodeo and her horse, Chico, was front and center. Shayda enjoys riding Chico, and playing sports. She loves to smile as she carries the flag horseback, wave to the crowds and share her rodeo love to everyone.
