Tri Valley Medical Foundation recently awarded scholarships totaling $14,750 to 20 area students who are pursuing careers in nursing and other medical fields. Tri Valley Medical Foundation applicants had wonderful career goals, outstanding scholastic records, and favorable recommendations from medical professionals and instructors. The Foundation is fortunate to be able to support these students in our service area to assist them in achieving their future career goals.

Alzheimer’s Awareness in Southwest Nebraska

In recognition of Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month this June, Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) encourages residents to learn about brain health, recognize the warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease, and support individuals and families affected by dementia.

L2 For Kids Clothes seeks donations

L2 For Kids Clothes For Youth is a non profit program started in 2012 by Henry and Pat Potter in Willow Island NE. They seek to provide, through the local churches and other organizations; under privileged children with new clothes for school, to help increase their self esteem, and well being in an effort to show them Christ’s love. Cindy Howerter in Cambridge and Cecelia Loganbill in Arapahoe will take envelopes to the businesses, if you would like to donate to this great program.

Cambridge School Board hires Science teacher and coach

The Cambridge Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. After the Pledge of Allegiance and the Open Meetings Law announcement, the Board excused board member Virgil Banzhaf. They then approved the agenda and the minutes from the May 11, 2026, Board of Education meeting.

HAYS, Kan.- Fort Hays State University recognized approximately 1,732 graduates during its spring commencement ceremonies Friday and Saturday, May 15 and 16, at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays. Graduates who requested privacy are included in the count but omitted from this listing.

MPCC announces Spring President’s List

A total of 150 students qualified for the President’s List during the 2026 spring semester at Mid-Plains Community College. To make the list, each student had to complete 12 or more applicable credit hours in college-level courses and maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.9 or greater on a 4.0 scale.
