NWU students named to fall semester academic honors list

LINCOLN, Neb. (January 20, 2026) - Nebraska Wesleyan University has announced its 2025 fall semester academic honors list recognizing undergraduate students with superior academic performance.

Students earning at least a 3.75 semester grade point average while completing a fulltime course load of at least 12 credit hours of graded work are eligible for consideration.

The following students were recognized with this honor for the fall semester:

SEWARD, NE (01/20/2026)-- Concordia University, Nebraska recently named 267 students to its honors list for the Fall 2025 semester. The following local students were named to the honors list:

Rachel Harris of Cambridge (69022) 

Students must earn a 3.90 GPA or higher while also completing a minimum of 12 credit hours to be eligible for this list.

Celebrating 100 days of school

Southern Valley 5th and 6th graders celebrated the 100th day of school with a snack mix, special “glasses” and telling everyone what we say or hear 100 times a day. Most often reported was “clean your room” from a parent.

Fort Hays State University releases Fall 2025 Dean’s Honor List

HAYS, Kan. (January 27, 2026) - Fort Hays State University has named 2,066 students to the Dean’s Honor Roll for the fall 2025 semester. The Dean’s Honor Roll includes undergraduate students only. To be eligible, students must have completed 12 or more credit hours and earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.60 for the semester.

The Village of Stockville Board of Trustees met in regular session on January 26, 2026 in the Village Office, Stockville, Nebraska. Advanced notice of the meeting, time and place was given to each board member and was posted in three public places in accordance with law. All proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public. Present were Board Members: Steve Walther, Dale Woodring, Nicola Buker, Jeromy Baker and Brad Wood. The meeting was called to order at 7:04 P.M. Walther moved to approve the Agenda, Baker seconded. Roll call vote- Buker, Aye; Wood, Aye; Baker, Aye; Walther, Aye; Woodring, Aye. Woodring moved to approve the minutes from the January 26, 2026 meeting; Baker seconded. A Solemn Assembly on the Equal Protection of All Humans in the Womb was held at the Nebraska State Capitol on Thursday, Jan. 22 at noon in the Capitol’s Rotunda during the Nebraska Legislative session. A peaceful gathering of citizens praying and singing hymns was followed by a few speakers.

Stamford Community moves forward with Fire Hall and Community Building Project

The Stamford community is taking an important step toward strengthening public safety and community connection with plans underway for a new combined fire hall and community building. The proposed facility will serve as a modern home for local emergency services while also providing a much-needed updated gathering space for community events, training, and civic activities. Designed to meet current and future needs, the project reflects Stamford’s ongoing commitment to safety, preparedness, and community growth. “This project is about more than a building,” said Tresadi Preitauer, Stamford Rural Fire Board Member. “It’s about investing in our volunteers, improving emergency response capabilities, and creating a space where our community can come together.”
